Ep. #5 – Emma Jackson’s Curtis Island Discs
Associate Professor Emma Jackson shows us a different aspect of Curtis Island. We hope you are enlightened by her deep knowledge of and passion for seagrass and its place in the ecosystem. These song choices have made it to some of our playlists; let us know which ones make it to yours by posting to the Curtis Island Discs Podcast page on Facebook!
Ep. #4 – Matt Burnett’s Curtis Island Discs
Matt Burnett, Mayor of the Gladstone Region, gives us an insight into his youth with colourful stories and energetic musical choices. Born and bred in Gladstone, Matt’s connection to the region extend to an amazing five generations. His love of this region is tangible and we get to know a little more about what motivates him, as well as how he felt when Kurt Cobain died, and what song was playing when he rolled his Mini on the way to Boynedale.
Ep. #3 – Molly Strickland’s Curtis Island Discs
Our third guest is Molly Strickland, a Gladstone local known for her artistic talent. She was recognised in the Rio Tinto Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards in 2019 for her work ‘Clockwork Conker’. Molly shares with us stories about her work as a tattoo artist and about Curtis Island, which she visits regularly for work/life balance. We hope you enjoy her music and easy going attitude!
Ep. #2 – Tom Hilton’s Curtis Island Discs
Ep. #1 – Nataly Fay’s Curtis Island Discs
Our first episode features Nataly Fay, who works in stakeholder engagement at ConocoPhillips. Her varied path led her, ultimately, to Gladstone and then to working daily on Curtis Island. I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the area through her eyes, as well as the value music holds in her life. We may be deserting her on Curtis Island, but she will be knee slapping along with her playlist! Enjoy!
